Each day varies as you put your advocacy skills to use as an Employment Consultant. Throughout your week, you will do many of the following activities:
-Provide excellent customer service and effectively communicate with clients, families, employers, case managers, residential providers, and teachers.
-Facilitate intake for those accepted into services, including explanation of services, skill/vocational assessment, and preparation of case files.
-Facilitate person-centered employment planning. Assist the client in creating vocational goals and methods to achieve those goals.
-Assist the clients in building a network of support. Coordinate with those people involved in the client’s life.
-Develop personalized activities for unemployed clients to build transferrable skills such as work readiness, work ethics, social skills, self-advocacy, and self-motivation through individual coaching, such as community trial work experiences.
-Develop relationships and network with the business community to secure jobs for people with disabilities.
-Facilitate clients’ job starts and provide on-site training, guidance, and supervision to both the businesses and clients.
-Conduct outreach and employment activities relative to prospective clients to expand our program.

This is a full-time position with an entry-level wage of $22 per hour or more DOE. Hours of work typically run Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 4:30pm. However, it is important that our employees understand the importance of supporting our clients during the hours that they work. This requires flexibility for evening and/or weekend assignments as needed, based on client caseload.

Minimum requirements include high school diploma or equivalent, driver’s license with reliable transportation and insurance to drive daily to meet with clients and businesses (mileage reimbursed), favorable driving record, and ability to pass initial and ongoing criminal background checks.

You will hit the ground running in this position if you also have the following qualifications:
• Knowledge, ability, and desire to work respectfully with people with disabilities.
• Knowledge and experience in learning theory, training methods and positive behavioral supports.
• Ability to relate to a diverse set of situations and individuals.
• Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups or individuals from a variety of different positions and backgrounds.
• Professionalism and business acumen that enables you to adapt to the needs of employers in varying industries.

COVID-19 Protocol Requirements
Proper COVID-19 protocol is important at Vadis. All safety precautions are taken, along with PPE needed to do your best work. COVID-19 training, and in-house communications are strong. State of Washington COVID-19 workplace regulations are reviewed regularly with adjustment to requirements made as needed. You MUST be vaccinated; exemptions are not permitted due to county contractual obligations.
